Established a high performing Human Factors division in the business that is now regarded by customers as a key point of competitive advantage for Seeing Machines. I take customer and industry needs and research trends to define driver and operator state concepts for product roadmaps. Concepts are realised as product features through my development and leading of revenue generating strategic partnerships with key automotive, aerospace and heavy vehicle operators, along with international Universities - partnerships deliver the data needed to build our operator state algorithms. I then validate the performance of our technology in operational environments and in OEM production programs. I represent Seeing Machines’ scientific and commercial interests externally and maintain strong scientific credibility and profile within the international human factors and safety communities. Leadership of a large team of scientists and PhD students conducting research related to transportation human factors, traffic psychology and transportation safety more broadly. The use of our driving simulators, land vehicle crew simulator and on-road test vehicles underpinned this research. Our outputs contributed directly to both transportation safety debate and policy development, and the academic literature. The team’s research strategy was realised through a blend of government contracts and national competitive grants. I developed research partnerships with all Victorian road and rail safety stakeholders, automotive manufacturers, the defence and mining sectors and several national aviation safety stakeholders. These industry partnerships were complemented with multiple grants from Australian Research Council (6) and the National Health & Medical Research Council (2). As a longstanding Associate Director of the Accident Research Centre I was an active member of the Centre’s Executive Group that provided strategic direction and governance of the Centre. Show less
