Michael is a very able person to help fix any IT service or system problem. He has the skill to get to interrogate systems that he hasn't seen before and come up with remedial strategies, so really valuable to have around. He is also keen to help with solutions and put himself out if necessary eg. he installed a system in Belgium for me on very short notice. It was no surprise that he was promoted to senior engineer as he was already functioning at that level.

Michael joined the 247 Operations team at the BBC as an Ops Engineer and soon became a key member of the shift team. Michael's a fast learner and quickly showed drive, motivation & the technical ability to do the Engineer role with relative ease. Michael's a great team player, often going beyond the 'call of duty' to ensure the teams success. On one occasion Michael took a server to Brussels at very short notice to ensure the BBC Democracy Live service remained 'on air' showing great dedication and commitment to his work. Michael works well with various teams, Development, Operations and Service Management and is always keen to add value & improve processes and service levels wherever possible. I'd recommend Michael and would be only too happy to work with him again.

I currently work as part of the 24x7 Operations team at the BBC supporting their online presence. I specialise in maintaining service availability for Audio and Video streaming products for live and on-demand content in a rapidly changing agile environment.I take a proactive approach to incident and problem management putting particular impetus on improving support processes for legacy applications and services. Initially my role at TTMC entailed importing, exporting and de-duplicating data into one of two legacy platforms as well as providing desktop support across the businesses 200-seat call-centre. After making the decision to attend university my knowledge expanded vastly and with it my experience and responsibilities became more technically demanding. My responsibilities at time of leaving ranged from troubleshooting network equipment, AD administration re-designing and developing software to support our ICT estate auditing system, asset tracking and backup management. I also provided support to the rest of the team in migrating our legacy systems to a VMware based solution and migrating legacy database systems to SQL Server 2008.

      • Jan 2008 - Sep 2008

Working as part of a small team on behalf of a large UK based HP, Microsoft and VMware consultant my duties involved telemarketing for targetted lead generation and event attendance campaigns. Our clients target sector was extremely competetive and as such relied heavily on strong interpersonal skills as well as good product knowledge across both public and private sectors.

      • Oct 2004 - Jun 2008

Gamesuite was a small internet cafe and gaming centre where I cut my teeth in IT and computing by implementing and maintaining a centralised games license distribution system using smartlaunch. My duties entailed designing business reports using Crystal Reports, ensuring inappropriate web content was inaccesssible by our members, writing software update scripts, deploying system images to client PC's using symantec ghost and running regular backups on the cafe's single server. My job here was initially full time however due to the unprofitable nature of the business this became a part time role.
