Recently, our company recovered from a record-setting catastrophic flood. As VP of operations, Mike planned the unplannable and oversaw a miraculous recovery of our operations (within about two weeks!) from a totally unpredictable and devastating natural disaster from which the rest of the Cedar Rapids area has yet to recover. Though previous to the great flood of 2008, I had been very impressed by Mike and his leadership, the exceptional circumstances presented by the flood have proven Mike to be truly exceptional in many ways. However, our recovery under his direction prove to all his ability to plan, to plan quickly and to optimally use limited resources to meet challenges that were so far out of expectations as to be thought absurd before these challenges came to pass. I undertook my move from the Federal sector to Diamond V in large part because of my confidence in our company's leadership. Mike and his leadership, especially during our recent flood, absolutely confirm my confidence in the future of Diamond V. I am very fortunate indeed to be working for the same company as is Mike.
