A visionary and authentic leader, with a sense of humour! I had the pleasure of working with Mike in Next Gen, which he was the founder. Under his leadership, the business grew from a start up to an iconic brand within the industry. He was focused on creating an environment where there was trust and collaboration, and the team is energized to bring their A game to the table. A great mentor and coach with humility.

Mike is a great team leader, motivator and genuinely great person. I had the pleasure of working with Mike when he founded and managed the NextGen organization at Tata and the then when he managed the Innovation team at Tata. In both instances, Mike took these functions from a small startup to a high-functioning business that became a best practice for other businesses and organizations in the company.

Built and managed a global team running the company's innovation strategy. This included idea generation, seed funding and early stage investing across a portfolio of internal and external projects. The challenge was to seed and scale ideas working with external partners to co-invest and co-build emerging businesses. We developed trusted partnerships with Tata Group, Academia, VCs, incubators and many global enterprises. During this time we built a brand new global innovation platform supporting the 10,000 employees to tap creativity across the globe and develop our internal entrepreneurs. This dramatically increased employee engagement in innovation. The team worked across the Tata Group Innovation eco system on several projects from IoT to connected platforms and Formula One Racing. And we also supported Tata Trust's incredible philanthropic projects. Show less

I started Global Nextgen (GNG) as an internal start up idea presented to the CEO as a new strategy to serve the global high-tech community. As Head of GNG I built a global business with the top 20 technology companies in the world from $40M revenue to $320M revenue in three 3 years. Global Nextgen generated over $3 Billion of contracted business with companies like Facebook, Amazon, Google. Microsoft, Alibaba, Apple. Working with the backing from the board and my manager CMIO Julie Woods-Moss, I built the team from a few people in silicon valley to a fully integrated business of 150 people in sales, marketing, sales engineering, innovation, commercial management, business development, customer service, finance all operating globally. Key to this success was a bold strategy, hiring talent and building a global collaborative team with innovation and agility at the core. The GNG business success enabled the rapid scale up of Tata Communications data center assets in India and Asia pacific - ultimately resulting in a successful Joint Venture with ST Telemedia in 2016.We supported all aspects of digital disruption and new innovation, learning from our customers and partners. GNG specialized in core infrastructure, subsea cable projects, data center builds, UCC, IP peering/transit, Mobility, Voice, Cloud Architecture and edge connectivity. We also built the global partner manager strategy helping to develop new GTM strategies with our clients including Google, MSFT, Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Oracle, Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent and other global OTTs working on scale infrastructure projects. GNG was the first team to have cloud partner agreements with Google, MSFT, AWS and Alibaba. Show less

I joined Tata and moved to San Francisco to specifically work with Google. Over this period we supported their globalization strategy building infrastructure into many new countries. We broke ground developing brand new commercial models and deal structures. From capacity builds to influencing landing locations and developing new strategies for the launch of products. This exciting period was the foundation for the creation of Global Nextgen as we applied the strategy across the top 20 global tech disruptors. Over this period, we secured a book of business over $1billion. I built a global commercial team that functioned in a totally new way. This became a new model for Global Account Strategy copied by many other organizations. Show less
