PhD Student for the highly international Applied Optics Group (AOG) whose research is centred around Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). The majority of my research was focused on the development and optimisation of a swept laser source with applications in OCT. The final result of my research was a novel spectral filter design based on a spinning polygon using parabolic mirrors working 1300nm.Skills developed during my PhD:- optical alignement - experience in swept source lasers based on polygon mirror scanning- use of zemax to optimise the performance of the optical system- design and fabrication of some of the mechanical pieces for the OCT system. I spent 6 years as a workshop manager for a bicycle shop in my local town. My duties and responsibilities primarily involved the maintenance and repair of customers bikes as well as the assembly of new bikes including special custom builds. My secondary role included serving customers as a sales assistant and taking/placing telephone orders. I spent 6 years as a workshop manager for a bicycle shop in my local town. I began working for Evans Cycles as a sales assistant at a store in Waterloo, central London and then progressed to workshop manager after demonstrating my passion for mechanics. Later I was moved to a dedicated servicing store in Greys, north London, due to my exceptional mechanical skills and high attention to detail in my work. Unfortunately the cost of living in London was high and the salary was too low to sustain any practical long term employment.
