I had an outstanding experience working with Mikayla here at the USDA ARS NCAUR lab at Peoria, Illinois. She walked in on the first day of her fellowship and we put her right to work. During the course of her two plus months here at the NCAUR Lab we taught her a great deal about agricultural sample preparation and analysis, and she picked up the analytical techniques very well. She was diligent and and precise in her work. We really only needed to show her how we wanted things done once and she was able to do the work and give us results that we could trust. I feel that she would be an asset in any job that she would be hired to do and would be an outstanding asset to any employer. She learned a great deal about proper analytical sample preparation, LC and GC sample analysis, and data processing, and I greatly valued the work she performed for me. If anyone needs a reference on her, I would be most happy to provide a very positive one! I wish Mikayla the best in her college studies and I am sure she will have a great career ahead of her in what ever field she chooses to work in.

Participated in summer research fellowship which allowed me to gain valuable experience in a chemical analysis lab. This fellowship also offered the Washington Leadership Symposium in Washington D.C. where I was able to network with US leaders in agricultural research and policy, develop leadership and professional skills, and learn about hunger and poverty fighting initiatives in the United States.
