Some self-hosted personal projects, mostly open-data related:- http://foto.maglina.ro - Mashup between Google Maps and old images from all over Romania. Written in Django. Mostly inspired by these guys: http://www.oldsf.org/#- http://bucuresti.maglina.ro/ - An "urban archaeology" mashup detailing the construction years of most of the Bucharest buildings. Written in Django, by using the Filters one can have a nice view of the city's urban expansion during the last 70+ years.- http://sate.maglina.ro/ - A history-related project, this is a mashup of the early settlements expansion for one of Romania's main southern provinces. It also has some heatmaps (http://sate.maglina.ro/heatmaps/), which give a better visual understanding of past events. Written in Django with SOLR behind it.- http://www.maglina.ro/news/ - A Romanian news aggregator, now put on hold. This is where I first implemented automatic categorization and clustering. Written in Django, all the backend AI-related stuff is also written in Python.- http://www.maglina.ro/bc/ - One of my first projects (~2006), this is a mashup between Google Maps and the Bucharest crimes reported in the local press. Because the police records were only accessible through said newspaper articles I had to write some smart Python code in order to get the relevant information out (like street-names and street-numbers of crime incidents), which then I tried to geo-locate and display on the map. Written in Django and obviously inspired by chicagocrime.org (http://www.holovaty.com/writing/chicagocrime.org-tribute/). Project now put on hold.- There's also a couple of one-time, for-fun-only small projects (also open-data related) which I post about from time to time on my personal blog: http://maglina.blogspot.com/ (written in Romanian)

Part of a small but very dedicated team, during the last 3 years I had the chance to work on interesting Internet projects such as:www.autoo.ro – A Python/Django-based Romanian vertical search engine and aggregator for second-hand car adds. Uses SOLR (http://lucene.apache.org/solr/) (original URL now offline, partially available now at: http://auto.maglina.ro/)www.imoo.ro – A Python/Django-based aggregator and vertical search engine for real-estate adds in Romania. Uses SOLR. (now offline)www.trn.ro – Map-based mashup of lands which are for sale in Romania. At the time of its launch (October 2006) this was one of the few web 2.0 projects on the Romanian Internet. Written in PHP. (now offline)www.rez.ro – One of the biggest Romanian portals for residential sales, complete with a Google Maps mash-up Written in PHP. (now offline)
