I worked as one of the Monday Nightside Reporters for News 7 putting together VOSOT's for the next day's newscast. I also did various work behind the scenes doing audio, video playback, prompter, cameras etc. I worked as a writer for the Wednesday 5:30pm newscast. my specialty was breaking news stories. I filled in regularly on other shifts as well. News 7 – LSCTV’s Emmy© award winning news organization provides twice-daily live newscasts of local and regional news and weather via cable to over 9,000 subscribers in rural northeastern Vermont and northern New Hampshire. The News 7 operation is driven entirely by Lyndon’s Electronic Journalism Arts majors with limited oversight by EJA faculty. The station is a CNN award school affiliate, subscribes to the Associated Press news service and students utilize Avid iNews, Avid NewsCutter and the Panasonic P2, DVCPro and AVCHD formats to produce each newscast.

    • Assignment Desk Intern/fill-in Assignment Editor
      • May 2012 - Aug 2012

Worked as a newsroom intern, and as part of that I answered calls, made beat calls, and monitored news sources for possible stories.Worked as a fill-in night-side assignment editor on two occasions as a last minute fill-in, and worked with the night-side reporter. Ran the assignment desk on a regular basis during all of the Friday night early and late evening newscasts.Sometimes worked alone and sometimes with others.Delivered scripts to anchors during commercial breaks.Wrote for the website if asked.Broke two breaking stories for the station: As a result of my investigating we were the only station to have a live report at a bakery shut down by the state for multiple violations, and I discovered the story of a mother and baby found dead in a nearby town; because of me we were able to have a reporter there in a timely fashion over just having a VO of it, and we stayed competitive with the other two stations.Regularly wrote the A-Block of the other two stations in the market. Updated the "ABC 6" Twitter, and monitored other twitter accounts for breaking news.
