* Responsible for all engineering tasks in evaluating oil and gas properties in various onshore plays in the United States and make a recommendation to management to acquire or pass. Perform decline curve analysis and material balance to assess PDP value. Analyze offset wells to place value on acreage by creating type curves and development scenarios. Review commercial data and calculate price differentials and lease operating expenses. Review marketing contracts where applicable and help identify ambiguities. * Manage newly acquired properties and assess where value can be added: cost reduction, workover analysis, production optimization, recompletions, new drills. *Recent acquisitions include: operated and non-operated positions in the SCOOP; mineral purchase in the Merge and NW STACK; non-operated interest in the Overton Field in East Texas; non-operated horizontal Wolfcamp position in the southern Midland Basin; collateral loan with a 20% interest in the DJ Basin; pending closure on Uinta Basin minerals. * Update valuation of properties as needed and help management team present to investors if called upon. Interact with investors’ technical staff to defend reserves and valuation and help them underwrite our properties. * Supervise and mentor two employees: engineer and geologist. Identify long-term and short-term goals that need to be accomplished to maximize production and make informed decisions in acquisitions, divestitures, and AFE participation. * In the process of identifying and properly grouping properties in the Permian Basin for divestiture: evaluate on a lease by lease basis; package leases/plays to suit what potential buyers are looking for, while retaining as much value as possible. Jan 2014 - Mar 2016
* Responsible for reserves and economic evaluations of oil and gas properties in the continental United States using material balance, nodal analysis, volumetric calculations, and decline curve analysis. Evaluations have been performed in many areas including: Permian Basin, Bakken Shale, Barnett Shale, Eagleford Shale, East Texas, Hugoton Basin, California Heavy Oil, among others. * The diverse clientele demands different types of analysis including: Bank Loan Redeterminations, Fair Market Value Assessments, SEC reporting for Year-End Reserves, and Acquisition/Divestiture Evaluations. * Assist in technical modelling for use in reserves determination. Briefly worked on evaluating the viability of using a steam-flood drive mechanism to maximize heavy oil recovery in a field located in East Texas using a STARS 3-D simulation model. Show less

Reservoir Engineer - Permian Basin
-
Oct 2011 - Dec 2013
* Team Lead for 20-acre down-spacing study. Make sure G&G delivers a quality 3-D geologic model. Extract a sector and load into CMG Reservoir Simulator. Perform a sensitivity analysis on various parameters that affect the reservoir, history match, and optimize. Calculate the drainage area for current wells, and model 20-acre and 40-acre “what if” scenarios. Successfully drilled 20-acre wells in study area. * Assist the asset team and corporate development transition our newly acquired properties from concept/acquisition, to a development/production asset. * Perform type curve analysis, calculate operating expenses and capital to develop and maintain a reserves database. * Work with G&G and completions engineer to provide guidance on what intervals to complete and how to complete them. Participated in a completion best practices study, which has significantly reduced completion costs.* Involvement in a 4 well appraisal program to redevelop a mature field and add potential overseen targets. Recommend well tests and analyze the horizons being tested one by one as we complete up the wellbore. Gather all data, evaluate the project, and, if feasible, help create a Field Development Plan to produce reserves. Show less

Reservoir Engineer - East Texas Tight Gas / Haynesville Shale
-
Oct 2008 - Dec 2013
* Provide engineering support to calculate Initial Gas in Place in the Bossier and Cotton Valley formations in our East Texas fields. Work closely with the G&G staff to design and optimize a Field Development Plan and select new drilling locations and recompletions as scheduled in the Development Plan.* Update reserves on a quarterly basis, as well as the production type curves for the different plays: Bossier, Cotton Valley, Travis Peak, and Haynesville Shale. Reevaluate capital spending and lease operating expense to closely follow recent projects. * Organize well reviews with the field personnel to optimize well performance and identify work over opportunities. The recent installations of Plunger Artificial Lift systems have increased production by an average of 100 mcf/d per well.* Assist Corporate Development in the evaluation of nearby oil properties in East Texas, Northwest Louisiana, Oklahoma, and southern Kansas; with the goal to increase oil production as gas prices continue to fall. The geologic plays that were evaluated were: Woodbine Shale, Tonkawa/Cleveland, Mississippian Limestone, and other Haynesville/Bossier properties surrounding our leased acreage. Show less

Reservoir Engineer - Uinta Basin
-
Jul 2008 - Dec 2008
* Assist team with selection of new drilling locations and recompletions. Optimize development to maximize net asset value.* Lower costs by 25% to represent lower commodity prices by talking and negotiating with vendors and optimizing produced water disposal.* Design a pilot waterflood to increase recovery efficiency from 5% to 10%, therefore doubling reserves. Communicate with the EPA to gather all technical data needed for permitting water injection wells. * Update reserves, type curves, lease operating expenses, capital spending, and taxes on a quarterly basis. Feb 2007 - Jul 2008
* Analyzing volumetrics and economics to pursue development and surveillance opportunities in the McAllen Ranch field. Pressure evaluation to help lower drilling costs of wells. Analyzing horizons and successfully completing them increasing proved reserves.* Participation in creating a Field Development Plan. Investigating infilling opportunities and adding successful well locations by down spacing a mature field. * Reserves focal point for the team. Applying the SEC guidelines to manage proved reserves accordingly. Identifying field projects that potentially increases proved reserves (i.e. additional compression). Participation and presenter in reserves audits. Show less

Reservoir Engineer - Gulf of Mexico Exploration
-
Sep 2005 - Jan 2007
* Provide technical, economic, and development scenario planning skills to help mature prospects to drill site status. Three “big cat” prospects (over 100 mmboe) and one near field exploration prospect (75 mmboe). These prospects were Norphlet and Miocene plays.* Conducting analog studies to select ranges for the different properties. Looking for similarities between fields tied back to the NaKika host. Identifying which analogs can be weighed more heavily.* Creating integrated production models for the different development scenarios and calculating production functions, system limitations, and flow assurance. Building MBAL, Gap, and Prosper models to measure expected performance from different fluids, pressures, initial rate expected, compression timing, and configuration (TLP, subsea flowline). I was able to model a subsea well tiedback to a host 25 miles away. Show less
