OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission in Armenia was formed by the invitation of Armenian Government for observing the prior-during and after the Parliamentary election on 2 April. I was selected to assist in day-to-day accounting and financial tasks of the mission. It was an interesting short-term experience of dealing with over 50 local employees and more than 250 observers (long/short term) presenting different countries from South Asia, Europe and America. I moved to Yerevan and joined the Embassy on temporary terms. However, due to my experience and sound knowledge in HR and administration I was offered to join the Corporate section to assist the management of the Post with the integration process of corporate functions to hub-and-spoke system. I took over the Post’s admin/coordinator for accounting with Manila/London hubs, HR in Vilnius, and Procurement in Minsk hubs. In all three hubs I was able to implement and coordinate requirements fast and to an exemplary level in the region which was mentioned in different reports to the management. I worked closely with local and UK suppliers for goods and service, handled many admin and technical projects and tenders. Show less

I started the HR department in Tehran for over 160 local staff members and 30 UK based officers (line managers) in 2006. Created the employee induction pack, employment terms and condition handbook, interviewing policy and training strategy of the post in compliance with Iran labour law, coordinated the implementation of performance pay to replace the automatic incremental system through performance and appraisal assessments. Managed and closed the back payment of social security insurance of 48 staff by minimum monetary impact on FCO through negotiation with Iran’s Social Security Insurance Organisation. Have conducted numerous job interviews for different positions from senior grades to cleaner, run job selection related tests and have done accurate sifting from over 200 applications. I introduced and run a reputable HR department that other diplomatic posts in Tehran contacted to seek advice on local employment laws and regulations. Due to my networking and collaborating skills also resilience and ability to perform professionally under pressure and unusual circumstances, I managed the HR department through two major local crises. The last one in November 2011 required me to start the department from scratch. I resigned from the embassy in June 2012 because I was leaving Iran to join my family in Armenia Show less

I joined Siemens after returning from my 1-year trip to Armenia and Europe in November 2004, got appointed as PA to Senior Sales Manager and assistant to sales team, was responsible for keeping diaries, coordinating meetings and handling travel arrangements, calculating per diems, filing claims and advance clearances, recording leave and attendance. Also responsible for English-Persian-English translation of documents and presentations. My organising, presenting and translating skills were well recognised and appreciated by my manager that he introduced me to oil and gas sector for participating in Caspian Sea refinery project meetings as translator and note-taker. I left Siemens to pursue my HR career as HR Manager at the British Embassy Tehran in March 2006. Show less

Jan 1998 - Jul 2003
Joined the Station as an Admin Assistant and got promoted within a year to Senior Admin Assistant. During that period I was responsible for IT and Telephone system upgrade of the town office which got me appointed as IT Coordinator of the Station till the last day I was employed there. It was due to my enthusiasm, hard work and fast learning skills that I was offered to replace Senior Accounting Assistant only 2 years after joining the Station. That widened my understanding of the Station’s activities, its finance, sales, revenue and business overall. Other than my day-to-day tasks I was assisting Finance and Admin Manager with monthly and year end closing of accounts, asset inventory, accruals and write-offs. I was promoted to Executive Secretary when that position became vacant, responsible for HR and administration of the Station (Town, Airport, Cargo and Engineering offices) with 45 local staff and 3 expats which was an interesting challenge, especially that the flights got increased from 7 to 21 taking the load of work rocket high. I was part of Y2K team of the station, and during airline crisis after 9/11 I handled three roles due to freeze on hiring staff, which brought me the recognition through an award. I resigned from my job to explore Armenia and Europe for a year. When I returned from my one year trip the new Country Manager immediately offered me a temp position to train the new Executive Secretary and handle the admin. Show less
