Responsible for creating and leading an assortment of assemblies to up to 250 people. Assembly topics ranged from encouraging pupil participation in extracurricular activities, education on social issues, discussing school culture, and outlining logistics for school-wide events. Organised and ran whole school house events and sports days with a particular focus on diversity and inclusion. This gave all students, regardless of ability, the opportunity to get involved. In some instances, this required managing a project that involved 400 students and 60 staff for 5 full days. Managing house staff members, coordinating them during school-wide events and encouraging their engagement in daily house activities. Completed Head of Year training within the United Learning academy trust with the goal of applying for a Head of Year role in the near future. Show less

Taught students with range of academic abilities, ensuring that all resources are accessible and appropriate for their individual needsSole responsibility of lesson planning for the entire year 8 and year 11 curriculum for whole department use. This involved planning multiple versions of the same lesson so that they would accommodate high, middle and lower set classes with appropriate ‘stretch and challenge’ or scaffolding (supportive). These resources have been shared with other schools within the academy chain. GCSE results from my 2021-22 year 11 cohort (set 5 – foundation) revealed that 50% of the class achieved the highest possible grade (5-5), and 80% of students were on or above their year 11 target. Served an extremely underprivileged community in Nottingham with 74% pupils having English as an Additional Language (EAL) and 56.3% being Pupil Premium (PP). Despite these significant barriers to learning, the school achieved a progress 8 score of 0.72 which was classed as being ‘well above average’ according to Gov UK. Liaised closely with the EAL department to ensure that lessons were accessible to EAL (English as an Additional Language) students. Ensured that these students were intentionally supported to guide their academic progress, and to improve attitudes towards school within this group. Mastered the implementation of both Rosenshine and Teach Like a Champion (TLAC) principles in all lessons. Also developed effective planning and behaviour management abilities through the TeachFirst Leadership Development Programme Utilisation of ‘lesson packets’ which enabled a consistent structure of lessons within the classroom, but also across the school. Lesson packets were differentiated to meet students’ academic ability and, where appropriate, adapted for the needs of SEN pupils. This better enabled all students to achieve their expected progress.
