As VP Business Development, I was privileged to work with some of the brightest minds in Canada’s mutual fund industry and was entrusted to uphold the name and reputation of one of the most recognized retail investment brands in the country . Over a 7 year period I was responsible for managing, fostering & growing relationships between clients (Financial Advisors) and the firm in the greater Montreal area. A strong focus was taken to articulate the firm’s value proposition as a trusted long-term partner deserving of a sleeve in every investor's portfolio. Other responsibilities include but were not limited to: Educating clients regularly about the investment landscape & asset allocation recommendations based on the views of internal experts and resources, providing access to practice management resources for Advisors to grow and develop their business, keep clients informed about the changing regulatory landscape.

    • Inside Sales Representative
      • Mar 2007 - Jun 2010

Over a 3yr+ time horizon I was privileged to work alongside one of the most seasoned and well respected Wholesalers (VP Business Development) in the industry where we worked together to broaden, deepen and expand the footprint of our organization in the city of Ottawa. Through daily conversations with Financial Advisors and rigorous training by the firm, this is where I began to grow my skills & abilities around relationship building & messaging. The role was a stepping stone towards learning how to effectively manage a territory and instrumental for my evolution to Wholesaler (VP Business Development) for the greater Montreal area.

    • Senior Business Analyst
      • Mar 2005 - Mar 2007

In this consulting role I reported to and regularly met with the COO & Executive VP of IT. I was heavily involved in several special projects across the firm & worked closely with the company’s in-house & outsourced Project Managers to leverage the latest available technology in the market across the company to create a higher degree of operational efficiency between departments as well as improve the technological experience for Financial Advisors through online services. Major achievements in this role include the implementation of a company wide CRM and the launch of an award winning self-service website for Financial Advisors.

    • Knowledge Analyst
      • Sep 2004 - Mar 2005

In this role I reported to both the COO as well as Executive Product Steering Committee. My primary function was to study the monthly IFIC sales & AUM data for the Canadian mutual fund industry as well as gather competitive intelligence. My monthly analysis described the current landscape for various fund categories, net sales momentum and competitor market share. This intelligence was used mostly by the firm's Product Steering Committee at the time to identify product launch opportunities and the business risks associated with them.

    • Product Training Supervisor
      • Jul 2004 - Sep 2004

As a part of a thriving organization and as a means of keeping up with an accelerated rate of new hires, this role was an extension of my previous Product Trainer role. The primary focus was to build an effective team of Product Trainers for the organization to facilitate the growing demand for knowledge transfer across the firm. I wrote the training manual for the Client Relations team, developed a study and testing program for new hires and documented the knowledge I gathered over my experience for ease of succession planning.

    • Product Trainer
      • Jan 2003 - Jul 2004

This role focused on the holistic training of new hires and senior employees across various departments in the company but with a specific focus on the Client Relations team. I reported directly to the VP of Client Relations & conducted regular training sessions for employees on several topics including: mutual funds, closed-end funds, hedge funds, limited partnerships, structured products, account types, business processes, systems training & call etiquette. I also facilitated weekend study sessions for employees wishing complete their CSC.

    • Assistant Supervisor - Client Relations
      • Apr 2002 - Jan 2003

In working closely with supervisors and the Director of Client Relations, I effectively managed approximately 30 employees of the Client Relations Center. My primary function was to properly train employees on the firm's products , services, systems & business processes. I also worked as a coach for employees that handled inbound calls from financial advisors to ensure that proper call etiquette was followed. The biggest milestone of this role was the eventual achievement of No.1 ranking in the Environics survey for customer service departments across the Canadian mutual fund industry.
