      My role as Group Engineering Manager was to execute the CAPEX outcomes of the cereal’s division of the Freedom Foods Group. I was responsible for the due diligence, ground up budget build, capex and business cases, execution, and hand over of all major capex projects. I worked closely with the 3 site General Managers, Group Operation Manager, Group Quality Manager, and all respective managers on each site to ensure that each capex delivered their requirements and expectations. This role required me to travel to Melbourne, Sydney and Darlington Point on a weekly basis and international travel when required.Although this role was prominently focused on CAPEX projects. I have also standardized the way we manage engineering and maintenance on all 3 sites. Things such as standardizing equipment’s and parts so that all three sites are alike and running the same Maintenance Management software (MEX) on each site.Notable achievements during this time:• Form part of the team responsible for the acquisition of 2 additional sites for Freedom Foods; Darlington Point Mill & Dandenong cereals plant.• High volume cereals coatings/oven system; $6 million dollar project at Dandenong.• Relocation of milling equipment to newly purchased Darlington Point Mill site from Stanbridge. $ 550k project.• Installation of 1,600 pallet racking spaces at Stanbridge.• Optical color sorter; $250k project at Darlington Point.• Standardization of plant equipment across the Dandenong & Stanbridge cereal plants.• Begin to support the UHT- beverage plants with line relocations and installations.       Post the sale of Rockdale Beef Pty LTD to JBS Swift, my role was made redundant. I identified that in the local Leeton area that there was an opportunity to provide business with an alternative solution on automation contractors by offering full turnkey solutions on end-to-end projects. Maintech was formed in partnership with another electrician and was quickly identified by key business as first choice contractors due to the turnkey options. JBS Swift – Feed mill & Abattoirs, Freedom Foods, EDI Downer plus many other commercial & domestic clients trusted & depended on our services. Some of the highlights during this time included. • Multiple tradesmen deployed across shifts at both JBS Swift & Freedom Foods.to provide automation, preventative maintenace & breakdown maintenance support. • The complete re-wire and automation upgrade of bitumen plant in Narrandera for EDI Downer. • Freezer store Automation upgrade of conveyor system & end of line cartoning system at JBS swift abattoirs. • Telemetry upgrade for main dam pumps and water tanks for JBS Swift Feed mill. • Installation & commission of multiple production lines at Freedom Foods. This included: o Bar manufacturing line. o Cereals batching room o Extrusion / coatings line o Cereal packing lines. • Wiring & commissioning of 25 Hotondo homes across Leeton & Narrandera. • Berembed Weir gate motors & actuator upgrades for State Water A personal decision was made to exit the business in early 2012 and take up opportunities at Freedom Foods.
