  *Working with Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) and Hospital Preparedness Programs (HPP), I coordinated the Medical Reserve Corp program.*Supervised, coordinated and implemented a state-wide program for hospitals to improve bed and personnel surge capacity. *Conducted emergency preparedness and response training, education, drills and exercises for hospitals and medical facilities throughout Florida. *Principal representative for Florida’s MRC & ESAR-VHP programs, managing a state-level program and $1.3 million budget allocated to 25 different local MRC units throughout the state. *Provided leadership to the Dept. of Health, business and volunteer partner agencies and stakeholders in developing, extending and/or improving their health care systems, strategies and services related to emergency preparedness and response. *Managed sub-contract award process, including the review of applications, award of contracts for funds received through grants and cooperative agreements. *Served as advisor and provided technical assistance to hospitals, businesses, volunteer groups and local MRC coordinators throughout the state.

  •Officer on active duty for 20 years. • Flew C-130s for several years. I later became a Tactical Airlift Liaison Officer (TALO) with the Army. Advised commander on the use of Airlift and coordinated training and exercises to train soldiers on how to prepare and load vehicles and personnel with equipment on aircraft. Included all aspects of deployment to exercise areas, operations in field conditions, and then redeployment to home base. Organized monthly Airlift management conferences for 200 people including lodging and transportation for the conference. Managed budgets of up $7 million.•Before being deployed to the Gulf War (Desert Storm) I coordinated the movement of 70,000 American troops, equipment and supplies from Germany to Saudi Arabia for the war. After the bombing, I was responsible for ensuring food, water, medical supplies and equipment was airdropped for humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi forces that surrendered in the desert. There were approximately 5000 refugees that needed food aid for several months until they were relocated.• Attended physiology training and became the Assistant Chief of Aerospace Physiology and Instructor, Shaw Air Force Base, SC. Conducted training in physiology as it related to flying and altitude exposure. Responsibilities included instruction in health and disease prevention, lifestyle and wellness, diet and nutrition, exercise, and stress management. Planned, developed and managed the Health and Wellness program for over 8,000 people at Shaw Air Force Base. Responsibilities also included assessing needs, planning, developing, implementing and the administration of a variety of programs, to include recruitment, training, supervision and retention of staff. Involved in contract negotiation and collective bargaining, administration and interpretation of policies and procedures. Counselor in personnel relations, evaluations, promotions, grievance and discipline procedures. Managed budget of $700,000.
