  PROVINCE OF PRINCE-EDWARD-ISLAND, Department of Finance The province provides a centralized assessment and collection system for real property taxation and collects levies and taxes on behalf of local municipalities, fire districts and Island Waste Management Corporation PROJECT Successful RAPID IMPLEMENTATION of an integrated product software suite to manage property control, tax assessment and collection applications for the province. Key in hand project, deliverables included; installation, training, conversion of 25 years of history, and integration to 3rd party satellite systems, departments and services previously working in silos. Short window of opportunity (less than 18 months) PROJECT MANAGEMENT -On-site project management and coordination amongst the different teams and stakeholders -Quality Assurance of project strategies, product design and requirement delivery -Test management (master plan, story case elaboration and execution) TRAINING & EDUCATION -Education plan -Training (administrators, trainers) CAREER LESSON LEARNED -For change to be embraced, it must be understood! Communication is the key to success! Throughout the project, we made sure to provide timely news to the users: What was accomplished, what was coming, what was required from them, and above all, the benefits from their point of view or the ‘What’s in it for me’. Before Go-Live, I organized an ‘All User Special Lunch & Contest Event’ that served multiple objectives: User empowerment, education (final transition directives), team building (we are all in this together), recognition of the efforts made in the project and the cherry on the top, performance and load testing. The contest consisted in finding answers and performing actions on the new system at a given time. -Do not plan anything on the Lobster Dumping Day, an island event where friends and family participate or cheer on the fisherman’s in a race to lay claim to the best spots for their traps.
