In addition to overseeing the training and education of 40+ volunteer docents, I supervised a staff of two full-time museum educators and a part-time arts librarian. Together, our team was responsible for creating and executing all museum education programs including gallery talks, lectures, films, artist demonstrations, children's programs, annual K-8 and High School art exhibitions, Art Hops, and collaborations with other community organizations. We worked collaboratively with the exhibitions department and our art school faculty to create an engaging line-up of programs focused on diversity, equity, access, and inclusion and that supported the educational mandates and mission of our institution. I worked closely with our K-12 and college audiences as well, using art to support their curriculum objectives and created tours and programs to engage audiences with special needs including individuals with visual impairments and individuals with sensory challenges. I have become increasingly interested in trauma-aware based programs and was working to incorporate art therapy into the museum's core lineup of programs to encourage audiences to use art as a path towards healing and recovery. I oversee all school and adult tours, teach and train all the docents on current museum teaching techniques as well as the history of art (western and non-western). I also coordinate all family programs, teen programs and some adult programs. I assist with grant writing and fundraising and manage the department budget with the Director of Education.
