Care of the oncology patient in the inpatient setting. This requires implementation of the nursing process, communication, and coordination with the interdisciplinary team involved with the patient and family. I was also the weekend night shift charge nurse, which required coordination of for the patients on the unit and supervision of the staff. Skills include accessing of implanted vascular access devices, administration of chemotherapy, and postoperative care of the cancer patient. In the ICU, I was involved in the care of patients that were critically ill. This position heightened my critical thinking skills, and cultivated many of my bedside skills. I participated on the Medication Action Safety Team, representing ICU and oncology and was on the HFEMA for rewriting the hospital's heparin protocol.
