I first met Michelle during her tenure at Mercy Housing, and quickly became a fan of her passion and spirit for affordable and workforce housing. A few years later, I had the honor of overseeing the selection process for the hiring the new Executive Director of the re-organized Belmont Community Development Corporation in Charlotte. We selected Michelle. Working in tandem with the board, Michelle did a stellar job of re-building the organization from almost scratch, and achieved very early wins in partnership with both the City of Charlotte, and the Charlotte Housing Authority. These successes led to Michelle transitioning to the Housing Authority, where her long record of accomplishments only grew. Michelle has also been a core team member of my election campaigns.
