This position was held at the Audie L Murphy Division of the South Texas Health Care System, Business Office/Medical Administrative Service Fee Services Section. I was responsible for determining legal medical eligibility for emergency hospitalization, outpatient, medical, dental, dialysis, pharmacy and other services in Non-VA facilities at the expense of the VA. I review claims and supporting medical documentation, validated charges were within negotiated rates, eliminated unnecessary or duplicate charges, verified patient and charges commensurate with care given/available at the facility and process the claim for payment. My assignments included assisting vendors/veterans on the phone with claim status, appeals process, verified VA eligibility within the Fee Services Division along with other duties as receptionist.
