As an intern at Weather or Not, I produced regional forecasts of daily temperatures, winds and precipitation for the company’s clients. Through my interactions with clients, I learned how forecasts are used by construction companies, snow removal companies, and city-based industries. I was able to expand on my forecasting skills and social interaction skills. With the advisory of Nathaniel Brunsell, I investigated the impacts of large-scale synoptic features, such as ENSO, on fires in Northern California. For this project, I analyzed the relationship between fire frequency, intensity and duration through different time periods in order to a determine relationship between synoptic scale features and fires. We focused on looking at microclimatological parameters to determine how they changed during different periods.
