Michele has spent three years developing a strong program for the performance arts in a school where theatre had disappeared for more than three decades. Her alignment with her students' energies is immediately apparent in the activities she conducts. Her approach gives them immediate and understandable connections to performance technique, theatre history, and literature. She links their study and performance with the intellectual discipline and physical activity required for any professional performance in "straight" or musical theatre. Michele is a visionary. She sees the potential for her students' growth and her own and shares it in compelling ways. She is both a model and a mentor for her students. She offers more than the "magic" of theatre; she offers her students (and ultimately their audience) insights to performance as both craft and art. I look forward to collaborating with her as I continue working with student performers.

It is a true gift to have Ms. Vicino at the core of our daughter’s education. Now more than ever before- we live at a time when our educational systems limits a teacher’s ability to teach outside the box in order to meet the core curriculum goals and reach proficiency on all state and national tests. However, Ms. Vicino is one of those extremely rare educators who infuses creativity into each of her lessons. By using techniques such as drama, poetry, literature, relational dynamics and movement she brings math, social studies, reading and grammar to life. Her organizational skills are remarkable. She has high standards and teaches the students to use planners and organizational techniques. As she inspires each child to learn, Ms. Vicino provides a nurturing and respectful environment.
