Michele is so warm hearted and easy to get to know. She is analytical and has meticulous attention to details. She did a great job improving general accounting processes and helped guide offshore accounting consultants to improve on controls and procedures especially those surrounding the PP&E and Prepaids areas during the time I worked with her. Michele would make a great addition to any accounting team.

Michele Hollenbach had worked at Dollar Financial Group, Inc, a $500m+ financial services company, for the past 13+ years, most recently holding the position of Senior Accounting Manager. Her layoff in May 2020 was the direct result of an initiative at the company to downsize as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. As a multinational corporation, with multiple functional currencies, Michele has a vast diversity of experience and leadership at Dollar Financial. One of the more notable responsibilities that she excelled at was managing the month-end close and being the centralized point person to our foreign business units. In addition to managing the U.S. month-end close, Michele worked with the local foreign controllers and managed various functional currencies and Intercompany reconciliations and invoicing. While a multi-national company, Michele was one of the primary contributors of an Accounting transformation initiative in which the outcome was decreasing the month-end close by 4 business days. A couple of years later, after a divestiture to refocus the business as a North American company, Michele worked on another major initiative in which she was an integral part of transforming the department to a shared services model. She then subsequently managed a portion of the offshore accounting team and collaborated to reduce the month-end close to 5-days! In addition to some of the accomplishments noted above, Michele was also an integral part of some key system implementations, including the Oracle ERP, Cadency, a balance sheet reconciliation/control tool, and the accounting requirements of the Kyriba treasury workstation. If you are considering Michele Hollenbach for a position, I’d be happy to provide additional information about her capabilities, dedication and accomplishments.

I developed an Internally Developed Software (IDS) reporting process which included a system to track capital time for employees and vendor invoices. I accomplished this by creating tracking mechanisms and collaborating with the IT team, including the CIO, on a monthly and quarterly basis. In addition, I created a communication process with the IT team to provide updates on the status of Project (IDS) and depreciating assets. As a result, Projects were accurately created, documented, and properly coded to facilitate the accuracy of the Financial Statements and facilitate critical decision making. I worked with the IT team to automate the creation and posting of journal entries related to loan transactions from the source system through a direct interface. As a result, eliminating the manual process which increased accuracy and allowed more time for reconciliation and analytics. In addition, I implemented a weekly loan system meeting to identify issues related to the source documents used to create the journal entries and identify resolutions. As a result, increasing the accuracy of information recorded to the GL and Financial Statements. I motivated and challenged my team through encouragement, training, and guidance to gain additional skills and drive innovation to promote continuous improvement across the team and allow my team to grow professionally and personally. I restructured journal entries and Balance Sheet reconciliations which created efficiencies by reducing the time needed to prepare and review entries and reconciliations. I also re-assigned entries and reconciliations which established cross-training within the department. As a result, we were able to absorb additional Payroll reconciliations into the department without adding headcount, allowing my team to grow professionally and adding depth to the team.
