  PhD studies in Heliophysics (Astronomy) which are focused around Ellerman's bombs and other similar compact bright phenomena orginating from the atmosphere of the Sun. These types of brightenings are observed by the IRIS spacecraft with imaging spectrograph instrument on-board. Research lead to better understanding of the phenomena formation depth as well as their parameters' global distribution across surface of the Sun. Responsibilities included: - Research on small-scale active phenomena on the Sun using image and spectral data from IRIS spacecraft instruments - Modeling the phenomena using numerical code to fit synthetic spectra with observations to find parameters of phenomena (described in paper Grubecka et al. 2016). - Statistical analysis of 2120 phenomena found in solar active regions by image processing automated search algorithm (paper in finalizing) - Tools used in work - IDL (Interactive Data Language) with solar-soft libraries (data access, pre-processing and search algorithm), further analysis in Python: jupyter notebook with libraries : NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, Seaborn. - Other: student teaching (statistics, numerical analysis, observational astronomy laboratory, mathematics) and public lectures. - PhD studies included 2 years of break for maternity leave Show less
