Mickey brings that rare blend of professionalism and passion to all she does. In the relationship game that is the foundation of all good schools, her work as educational psychologist has been critical to the success of our Wellness team. Working with all ages from 4 to 18 gives Mickey the opportunity to understand the long game, and allows her to draw on experience of both what is to come, and what has been. I have particularly enjoyed Mickey's commitment to every boy she works with - she listens to the issues, actively seeks out input from others who work with him, and brings a warm and focused support to her engagements with him. Successful schools need to build this trust relationship amongst both faculty and students (and parents), and Mickey understands this implicitly and has created many such support networks. Doing this firmly within the ambit of proper child safe-guarding procedures and within the legal framework requires proper knowledge and an experienced practitioner. Mickey brings both of these and guides those less experienced, while being open to alternative perspectives herself. As a team player, Mickey steps in wherever needed and is not averse to doing the heavy lifting on an issue where necessary. She will give the time and energy needed, and always manages to balance her professional responsibilities with her family duties. Her recent foray into professional teaching studies has added to her understanding of the classroom environment and she has proved to be both an effective and interesting teacher. I am sorry to see her leave South Africa, but have been greatly blessed in being able to work with somebody of Mickey's calibre. I feel sure that her professional career will continue to grow in diverse directions and that she will be an asset wherever she moves to in our global village.
