In January 1991, Michael Pounds ventured away from gloomy the building industry to begin a new career in the upcoming technology wave of the future. Working his way through the learning curve and keeping up with the every changing data cable and fiber optic products, in February 1997, Michael decided to start his own company with his wife Gina Pounds and within 1 year of hard work and determination, the business had grown to more than 20 employees. With all of the ups and downs in the economy, everyone has their struggles, but Southern Datacom takes advantages of these opportunities to advance and grow. In 2008, Southern Datacom acquired a local underground construction company struggling in the failing economy and began installing communication duct banks and manhole systems. With over 80 years combined management experience, Southern Datacom has partnered with industry leaders to provide warranted solutions from Avaya-Nortel, Freedom IQ, Panduit, Ortronics, Leviton, Siemon, Essex, Mohawk, General, Corning, Chatsworth, Cooper B-Line, Peerless and more.
