      • 2010 - Present

      • Teach full-time, 4/4 course load plus office hours. • 7 sections of “Introduction to Rhetoric and Composition,” 3 sections of “Approaches to Literature,” 3 sections of “Introduction to Poetry” and 2 sections of “Introduction to Narrative.” • Design 4 original syllabi, incorporating required texts, meeting and exceeding course expectations/goals as designated by university policy. • Additionally I’ve supplemented the required texts for “Introduction to Rhetoric” with other daily readings and videos emphasizing a theme I thought relevant to first semester freshman, repurposing. To become more active and thoughtful agents in our daily lives (thus productive rhetoricians) we attempt to play with and rethink the usefulness of language just as, say, Michael Bloomberg and his administration repurposed dumpsters into public swimming pools or a culture jammer repurposes the message of a bus stop advertisement. • In a similar fashion I’ve chosen additional readings by Adrienne Rich and Qwo-Li Driskill (just two examples) for my literature courses to suggest that the writing craft can be a political/personal tool; figurative language in particular can be a method to better encompass the phenomenology of, say, anger, sorrow or boredom Show less
