Established the first internet service provider in central Pennsylvania in 1995, VICON Networks offered internet access, email and web services to individuals, small and large corporations and educational facilities, with the peak of operations supporting over 8,000 users and over 100 websites! The various projects developed, implemented and support through this initiative have many different sizes and structures for the different needs and purposes of the companies and educational facilities involved. Since this was the start for the now explosive internet advents, there were many initial developments for services that we now take for granted because we can access these services with easy and in many different fashions. The scope of these new projects with internet connectivity and services utilized physical cable plants of fiber optics, twisted pair, coax and wide area networks (WANs) of ATM, Frame Relay (56K to T1), SMDS and ISDN. Servers and related network technologies were comprised of Novell, WindowsNT, UNIX, MVS and VMS systems. Since the “internet” was the explosive hot topic, many classes were compiled and presented to numerous customers across the country. Class topics covered Introduction through Advanced TCP/IP, Multi- Page 3 platform TCP/IP Implementation and Architecture and Local Area Networks, and Wide Area Network Structure Design, Implementation and Maintenance. Through the Research and Development group, I supported the Eastern and Central Regional field engineers, technicians and designers.
