St Helens Chamber was an £11.0m T/O, 150 employee, not for profit distribution, membership organisation. In addition to representing business interests and delivering member benefits, the Chamber develops and delivers a range of UK Government and EU funded public and private sector projects, both within the borough and throughout Merseyside. Responsibilities included: Working with CE and SMT colleagues to manage the successful culture change from public funded body to private sector delivery and rationalisation/integration of three delivery teams to form new Business and Membership Services operating division to deliver on target performance of EU and UK funded re-generation and enterprise projects within constraints of finance and EU regulations. This included the successful, on time and on budget delivery of a new 30,000 sq ft incubation and managed workspace (including office facility for St Helens Chamber). Management of Information Services (including legal insurance and advice), Business Services teams and subcontractors. Development and delivery of membership products and services. Met or exceeded all operational and financial targets for the projects with full P& L responsibility. Increased paying membership by 50%. Projects involved working with member companies, individuals, private sector companies and public agencies in the UK and internationally to ensure successful delivery of a range of business and economic objectives. Developed European sales of dormant product line, from $600,000 to $3.0m over three years, increasing profitability by optimising invetory practices.
