Being a member of the drivetrain sub team, I am responsible for research, design, testing, and validation of the gearbox that connects motors to wheels using CAD, CAE, and simulation tools. This includes creating assembly models, calculating stresses and failures for gear ratios, geometry, tolerances, and choice of material. In this term at the region, I was given increased responsibilities compared to last co-op placement based on my previous performance. On top of what was carried out in the last term I was at Halton Region, supplemental tasks included: - Introducing and implementing a new work order process working with all the administrative staff team from vehicle intake to closing business with the user groups mitigating paper waste and promoting digitization and efficiency for managing the fleets equipment using ALLDATA and MS Word. - Entrusted with many leadership responsibilities such as introducing a new online scheduling program ALLDATA manage online to the supervisor and sub foreperson in one of the fleet’s operation centers and teaching a new intern the inner workings of the office and administrative tasks performed such as W/O’s and invoices as well as scheduling vehicles. The result in this promotion of understanding as full cohesion between shop staff and the new administrative intern - Performing entire vehicle service process from vehicle intake to work performed (small jobs such as decommissioning regional vehicles) to processing work orders, invoices and closing business.
