Conducting research in the fields of optical switching and communication technologies for optical WDM networks including ATM, integrated opto-electronic components, semiconductor lasers and amplifiers, ultra fast fiber lasers and technologies for ultra high speed optical time division multiplexed systems. As a result of this work I authored or co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications. Performed research in the frame work of projects such as ESPRIT-MOSAIC (integrated WDM components), RACE-ATMOS (ATM optical switching) and ACTS-HIGHWAY (photonic technologies for 40 Gbit/s trunk systems and networks). The work was carried out in collaboration with major European telecom operators and suppliers. I was responsible for project management on behalf of DTU in the ACTS-HIGHWAY project during the period 09/95 - 04/97 managing the collaboration with university and industrial partners on the project and performed successful presentations of major project milestones at technical audits held by the EU commission in Brussels.
