Michael had a dream about entering and winning an international rocketry competition (ESRA IREC) for his senior capstone project. The only problem was he had no experience in high powered rockets. I signed on as a mentor because high powered rockets are a passion of mine. The learning curve was steep but Michael is smart, very smart and a great listener. Michael organized the team, managed workload, created checklists and in a years time had flown a entirely student made sounding rocket with a payload experiment to 10,000 feet AGL with safe recovery. OSU won first pace over 35 universities and also won the award for best experimental payload design. I said it then and I will say it now Michael is possibly one of the most talented engineering leaders I have ever met.

Directly involved in the 9 month re-design to launch process of V0.9 Starlink satellite campaign.Developed and tested solar module technology, materials, and processes manufacturable by terrestrial solar suppliers and capable of surviving the harsh environments on orbit. Owned bring-up and scale of internal resources capable of at-rate manufacturing of solar modules and deployment mechanisms. Worked with skilled designers to develop, iterate, prototype, test, and scale drastically cheaper and more manufacturable solar deployment mechanisms. Show less
