Senior Teaching Technician Bioengineering
-
Jun 2015 - Sep 2017
There were two aspects to this role, teaching and technical. As a teacher I led and supported UG and PG bioengineering labs, developed new and existing practical classes, wrote lab scripts and created learning resources, set assessment tasks and marked work. I worked with a University Teacher and team of (excellent) teaching technicians to coordinate and deliver the Bioengineering practicals that ran in The Diamond. I also managed the Bioengineering Tissue laboratory in The Diamond and was responsible for H&S and lots of lovely equipment. I supervised project work and ran out reach and open day activities. Jun 2014 - Jun 2015
Led and co-ordinated projects that supported research and innovation across the University of Sheffield. I worked with departments and management to coordinate a successful Institutional roll out of Researchfish. I managed, advocated for and grew users of Research Professional. I led the development of a Supervisor Search tool that enabled prospective students, Industry and journalists to connect with experts and also enabled analysis of search metrics. I carried out a scoping project for Institutional ORCiD implementation and worked with the Library and Corporate Information and Computing Systems to develop an Institutional data catalogue as mandated by the EPSRC. I represented the University at sector wide national meetings. Supported my colleagues by writing regular policy briefs for the R&IS Executive team and blog articles relating to sector developments and policy. I also produced and delivered training resources and webpages and organised and ran workshops, training and networking events. Show less
