Most recently (past 3 years) I started managing our family crop farm; after learning under my father for the past 12 years. We currently practice some of the advanced precision ag practices out today including yield mapping, variable rate seeding, zone sampling, variable rate fertilizer, aerial imagery, multi-year profit mapping and RTK correction guidance systems; as well as cover cropping and biological based fertility programming. Through these practices and extensive learning and experience based education, we have increased farm yields 10-20% in the last three years depending on crop type. This is a passion of mine as it is truly a vocation where the most experienced and educated growers get to reap the most in terms of, not only financial, but accomplishment, satisfaction, and true joy. This job has made me a true "life-long learner" with an infinite motivation to do more and learn more.

I work with growers on their understanding of carbon and it’s use in modern agriculture. We utilize sugarcane molasses with other 21st century chemistry, such as MKP, to add a carbon based product around fertilizer placement area. Our products are meant to supplement a carbon positive growing environment (cover crops, manure, humic substances, etc) and we help growers establish a plan for adding more carbon to soil then is released. In terms of sales, I have grown my territory 30-40% every year from 2018 to present.

Smart Yield is a company I started to focus on "more then surface deep" statistical analysis of agriculture data. The few variables that were used to create variable rate prescriptions and management decisions can only go so far in creating yield gains. I believe much is to be learned with statistical analysis to answer more of the "why" questions, and in turn will create profitable decisions. Much of the low hanging fruit has still yet to be picked! I believe our fertility systems are subpar, and need to be reevaluated to play better with biology. Also, we need to start treating each acre like individual businesses; putting a ton of weight on Net profit and ROI. We are working to provide consultation on balanced fertility plans, profit mapping and variable rate mapping for seed, Nitrogen, and soil corrective materials. Focused on sustainability and soil health!

I am assistant to the General Manager of the store. The business manager is basically a training position to get individuals ready for the highly competitive and high risk position of a Field Marketer. I work with all the field marketers (Salesman) working up deals, trade evaluations, and any financing needs they may have (leases, retail loans), as well as getting a hands on feel for what it is like to manage a dealership in the agriculture industry.

Helped manage a 800 acre chipping potato operation that grows spuds for Barrel O' Fun in Perham, MN. My responsibilities included overviewing everyday operations including field work, irrigation and field scouting. I regularly checked the center pivots and performed maintenance duties when needed and scouted for weeds and bugs. I was also included in on management decisions pertaining to chemical application and fertility.
