Throughout my time at Newcastle University I promoted language learning through assemblies, workshops and a variety of events across the northeast. This enabled me to share my passion for languages and exciting new cultures with younger minds in the community. For a truly unique professional and cultural environment, I opted to work at a Scuba Diving facility in the remote town of Bouillante, Guadeloupe for 3 months. With no previous experience of diving, I instantly adapted to a new work environment, learning key practical and administrative skills during my time. With no English speakers on the island, I was able to develop professional but warm relationships with clients. My time in Peru was marked by a wealth of professional responsibility and life-experience that led to a level of personal development I could only have dreamt of beforehand. My responsibilities during my internship were split into community project organization and volunteer expedition management.-I personally found and established a relationship with organizations and schools with whom we would work. I co-ordinated projects for volunteers from the initial contact with new organizations months prior to volunteer arrival, to the execution and assessment of projects with volunteers. Projects ranged from teaching to construction work.-Meanwhile, I planned expeditions for volunteer groups ranging from 10-24 people, ensuring all accommodation, meals, extracurricular activities and travel were budgeted and accounted for. I proceeded to actually lead the expeditions across Peru either alone or with a colleague, upon volunteer arrival.
