  I am the initial contact to individuals and families seeking help for substance abuse and/or mental health problems. My responsibilities include brief screening on the phone, determining the appropriate services the individual/family needs and assisting in the steps to fulfill these objectives. The call may turn into a scheduled assessment for one of our 9 programs that include both residential an outpatient facilities or drug and alcohol assessments as ordered by courts, department of motor vehicles or places of employment. Using my skills as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, I assess the individual and/or family in person that may take place at the potential program, hospital, courtrooms, other facilities, or the main office. I then make a preliminary diagnosis and give direction to possible program, whether that be ours or a referral, to meet their needs. Show less
