Avionic Program Manager - Combat Rescue Helicopter
-
Oct 2015 - Nov 2016
Lead the avionics organization in the modernization of the Sikorsky Blackhawk into a Rev G Combat Rescue Helicopter. Changes included new mission systems, GPS missile tracking, evacuee lift, lighting, power and virtually every system including software code developed using agile practices. Changes were coordinated with the training organization. I had senior Cost Account Managers as well as direct reports over every system area (Electrical, Comms, navigation, propulsion, software, defensive management, lab development, etc). The Avionics budget was $450M including material and there were over 100 staff touching my budget. Note: My tenure was brief due only to a significant health issue of a relative and I went to provide support. That has resolved and I am able to relocate again, if needed. Show less

Led a department that delivered an F-35 center fuselage fully equipped every 3 days. This includes electrical testing (DITMCO), hydraulic pressure decay testing, hydraulic lines, skins, wiring, antennas, mounts, and all black box installs. This department included business and engineering dotted line reports (cost, IE, liaison engineering, contracts, and operations) which when combined with functions was roughly 200 full time equivalent staff under my leadership.

Jun 2010 - Jun 2012
I managed a full IPT including dotted line business functions and engineering in the development of the Extremely High Frequency (EHF) increment II program adding high data rate capability through updated radios and antennas into the B-2 bomber. This team worked with other divisions and suppliers throughout the United States. We worked as a virtual team. The staff was as many as 160 equivalent people. The EMD phase was budgeted at over $400M and total program was estimated at $!.2B. The IPT Director spent a majority of his time working with budgeting processes and customer planning to keep the program sold. Show less
