• Work individually and on a team as an engineering consultant to provide everything from front-end control system design to system integration and start-up services for clients in a wide range of industries (Water & Waste Water, Oil & Gas, Mining, Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, Electric Utilities).• Coordinate with clients to develop I/O lists, instrument and equipment lists, control narratives, control specifications, and basis of design.• Draft electrical drawing packages using CAD software (AutoCAD). Typical drawing packages include: Power one-line and three-line/controls drawings for 480VAC motor control centers (MCCs), control schematics (control power wiring, I/O wiring, E-Stop/safety system wiring), network and communications diagrams, and control panel/enclosure layouts.• Develop bills of material based electrical drawing packages and equipment/instrument lists, and work with vendors on procurement.• Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at panel shop, updating components with the most up-to-date firmware, establishing communication between all components, and verifying I/O.• Develop and maintain PLC programs based on customer needs. Migrate PLC programs from older PLC platforms, update existing PLC programs to add functionality, or build new PLC programs from the ground up.• Develop HMI or SCADA applications based on customer P&IDs or other applicable design documents.• Set up servers and PC workstations for applicable SCADA systems.• Configure VFDs (typically configured to be controlled via ethernet communications).• Perform on-site start-up and commissioning, including field I/O checks, motor rotation checks, network and communications check out (for remote I/O, MCCs, and any other ethernet or serial devices), PID loop tunning, and functional testing of systems.• Provide maintenance and troubleshooting services for existing control systems.

• Designed, programmed and commissioned the control system (Allen-Bradley PLC) for the first commercial deployment of a sour gas treatment technology at a remote site in western Wyoming. Specified and integrated instrumentation with the control system’s 50 I/O points and associated PID loops to provide data acquisition, trending and automatic operation and allow for less than 1 hour of operator oversite per day. Performed in-field control system and control panel modifications to accommodate unforeseen field conditions and new modes of operation.• Commissioned and operated a 1 million cubic foot per day sour natural gas treatment unit for 2 plus months over the summer of 2016. Developed and followed procedures to perform leak and pressure tests on pressure vessels and liquid and gas lines. Worked safely in hazardous locations and participated in daily safety reviews.• Managed the interface between chemical process design and process control for various projects. Prepared documents including piping and instrumentation diagrams, standard operating procedures, control narratives, cause and effect diagrams and I/O lists. Participated in hazard and operability studies to inform process and control system design changes.• Retrofitted a laboratory scale gas purification system used for rapid screening of chemical additives. By increasing the scope of automation to allow for unattended operation, and expanding system capacity, the system throughput was increased by over 300%.• Programmed the PLC, the HMI and designed the control panel for a biogas treatment pilot unit for the City of Boulder, CO wastewater treatment plant. The unit processed nearly half of the plant’s digester gas and the control system provided automatic operation and data acquisition for further technology development.
