The organization provides support to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and my role was to personally support adults with disabilities by developing trusting relationships with individuals in order to assist them in successfully completing nearly every daily task inherent to adulthood (the tasks varying according to the individual's unique disability). This included (in support of individuals with intellectual disabilities, eg, Asperger's Syndrome, emotional/intellectual disorders, etc.) advising individuals in responsible financial planning, finding, applying to and securing (and maintaining) gainful employment, modeling and educating individuals on proper social etiquette (difficulty socializing being and exceptionally common issue) and practicing meaningful self-reflection to promote interpersonal, intrapersonal, social and professional success. While supporting individuals with physical disabilities only, my responsibilities included assisting or completing virtually every task and activity made difficult by an individual's physical disability, tasks and activities which apply to all individuals, regardless of status of ability. My role in fulfilling my daily responsibilities were determined as necessary particular supportive techniques per holistic personalized support plans developed by an individual's group of professionals which set plans and goals to best support the individual and assist him/her in attaining independence.
