As the primary engineer I designed both the hardware and firmware for the world's most cutting edge smart mouthguard. This IoT device utilised common technologies such as Bluetooth and a variety of sensors to measure biometric, impact and movement data. With the mission to make contact sports safer and to provide the most functional metrics to players and coaches, my time at Orb Innovations has been very rewarding. My broad role at Orb Innovations had me taking ownership of the following: * Electronic system design and risk management * Advanced PCB Design using modern EDA software * Writing C based Firmware on ARM M4 processors * Implementing and adapting intelligent data science algorithms on low-level systems * In-house assembly and testing * Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Compliance (EMC) * Working with external contractors and supply chain management Show less

At Tended I was a part of the system design of an industrial personal safety wearable. I worked in a small team to implement the system to demonstrate it's proof of concept. Working remotely, I selected hardware and wrote code using C++. I gained experience using the ARM Mbed development platform to rapidly develop a functional prototype. In addition I learnt in-depth about advanced global positioning technologies and some of the safety challenges on UK's National Rail network . I am proud that my work on this project contributed directly towards the winning of a major commercial contract. Show less

At MOVUS I lead the re-design the FitMachine. This Industrial IoT sensor was used for condition monitoring of large cyclic machinery primarily for the purpose of predictive maintenance and reducing downtime. The focus of my role was to design an "EX" version of the sensor for use within explosive environments. I am proud to have successfully navigated IECex compliance and been able to release a product in record time and ahead of schedule. Some of my duties involved:* Component selections and system design* PCB design using Altium Designer* Writing test firmware (C language) for both WiFi and Bluetooth co-processors* Setting up automated CI/CD testing using Python and TeamCity* Producing very detailed and controlled technical documentation to support the IECex certification Show less
