    • Lecturer IV, Coordinator of Audiological Services
      • Jan 2001 - Present

I have 29 years of clinical audiology experience in medical, rehabilitation, pediatric and university clinic settings. After successful adjunct teaching opportunities with Syracuse University and Ithaca College, a full-time lecturer opportunity presented itself at SUNY Cortland where I have remained for the past 20 years. As a lecturer in the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences, my primary responsibilities involve teaching. My primary interests lie in the area of pediatric diagnostics but I consider myself a generalist. I routinely teach: Introduction to Hearing Science, Speech Science, Basic Audiology and Aural Rehabilitation. I have also taught Introduction to Communication Disorders, and Organization of Speech, Language, Hearing Services in the Schools. In addition to my teaching responsibilities I am Coordinator of Audiological Services for the Center for Speech, Language, Hearing Disorders where I maintain my clinical skills. Through the Center, I provide opportunities and supervise clinical audiology experiences for graduate students consistent with scope of practice for speech-language pathologists. Through the Center I have developed a relationship with the Cortland City School District where we provide annual hearing screenings for over 800 elementary school students. I am currently developing an educational program for elementary students focusing on the dangers of noise and the need to protect hearing which I hope to implement in the near future. Through the Center for Speech, Language, Hearing Disorders, I also provide annual hearing screenings and education on the dangers of workplace noise for employees in the college and local communities who are at risk of hearing loss due to workplace noise. While I continue to hone my skills as an educator, I routinely receive strong evaluations from my students and have been honored to receive the Non-tenure track Excellence in Teaching Award from the College.
