August 2013 – June 2019 BAE Systems Dayton OH Research Engineer As a research engineer for BAE Systems, I work on various military contract projects. My responsibilities include creating new components and to interface with both new and existing hardware from concept initiation all the way through to delivery. I also am responsible for hiring and managing co-operative education students for semester long programs. Some of my tasks include: • Concept and detailed design of device components • closed form and computer aided analysis of components under various scenarios • Design validation • Preparation and review of engineering drawings • Sourcing materials, and releasing drawings and materials to vendors for fabrication • Material selection, including types of heat treatments, surface finishes, and the use of composites and other laminated materials or advanced alloys. • Project Management • Presenting data and design choices to the client During my time at BAE, I have been deeply involved in the design process from day one. I started out by making significant changes to an existing design to upgrade it and allow for testing of different variables. I am the lead engineer on the project, and am called upon to make critical decisions during the design and integration phases by management. I am continually exposed to a number of advanced concepts and new practices, as well as new and emerging technology and materials. Show less
