  Managed development project of supplier-sourced electronic controller for semi-active dampers. Encompassed both hardware and software. Lead weekly internal and supplier status meetings. Tracked and maintained required documentation. Member of team developing new concept of electronically controlled damper. Multiple duties included overseeing supplier responsible for creating critical component - solenoid valve. Maintaining design specifications. Reviewing and approving performance test data. Responded to supply issue by taking lead to ensure custom parts were available for production build. Assumed responsibility for hand assembling delicate subassemblies. Collaborated with components specialists to design and produce new ratings of conventional shock absorbers for commercial vehicles and agricultural equipment. Managed fabrication of prototypes for both customer and internal qualification testing and evaluation. Following approval, worked with manufacturing facilities to transfer product status from experimental to production. Ensured quality issues were resolved by coordinating resources within the plant and engineering headquarters, driving to understand the underlying cause.   Worked full-time, on-site as an embedded employee at the customer's (Tecumseh Products Co.) corporate headquarters. Performed multiple functions but primarily was an application engineer, selecting and qualifying motor protectors for hermetic refrigeration compressors. Maintained an extensive inventory of parts but also arranged creation of new prototype ratings. Established qualified parts as new production ratings. Process also included these other components: current relays, PTC relays, relay-protector modules and pressure switches. Provided analysis of failed parts. Created reports and submitted these to product design engineering for further investigation when needed. Also served as a quality inspector for suspect incoming parts at the local factory. Planned and scheduled annual engineering reviews between the two companies. Networked at all levels from the shop floor to the company CEO. Entertained clients at local country club and University of Michigan football games. Created favorable impression of company with customer by expanding role beyond engineering, becoming the local interface for whatever was needed, making doing business very easy. Texas Instruments spun this portion of the business off the last month of my tenure. It is now known as Sensata Technologies. Show less

Wrote tool specifications. Contracted the hardware and software. Directed software engineer who coded and tested the application.
