I was recruited by a national supplier of durable home medical equipment based on a recommendation from a Senior Vice President at Descartes, and assumed oversight of an eight-member call center support team that provided transportation management system (TMS) training for routing and dispatch teams and roughly 800 delivery drivers at local distribution hubs. I placed significant focus on maximizing final / last mile efficiency through the establishment of improved key performance indicators (KPIs) to minimize transportation costs and maximize customer satisfaction. Under my leadership, we increased yearly revenue to $6M and exceeded six consecutive quarterly goals of securing 1,600 resupply and maintenance orders and averaging an 82% confirmation rate by launching outbound prospecting campaigns. I am also credited with training our Logistics Planners to design delivery routes based on patient density, which resulted in a significant decrease in unproductive drive time, leveraging contacts at Descartes to negotiate lower rates for the Roadshow and GeoTab Telematics solutions, and subsequently spearheading the implementation process and proof-of-concept pilot program. Additional successes include establishing a database of cubic volume and weight limitations for each SKU to base route optimization efforts in Descartes on all relevant criteria (vs. only route duration), and transitioning the company to paperless operations through the utilization of mobile devices and conducting end user app training. While I am proud of all that I accomplished in this role, I am anxiously awaiting the next challenge to conquer! Show less

Prior to joining Rotech, I presided over of a 160-member team that included 57 logistics personnel servicing the greater Charleston metropolitan area at an event rental company. I guided our company to increase stops per route from 3.5 to 8.5 and on-time delivery to 95% while modernizing routing operations via the implementation of Descartes and Zebra logistics software solutions to consolidate eight routes into one, which enabled a 40% decrease in temporary contract labor expenses. Other contributions included redesigning our warehouse layout to include drive-in / drive-through racking, increasing capacity by an average of 45 pallet positions and providing easier access to high-velocity SKUs, and launching an RFP process to acquire an outsourced fleet management / daily preventive maintenance service provider at a lower cost than initial budget forecasts and achieve compliance with DOT regulations. I was hired by a publicly-traded furniture and electronics rent-to-own company to direct the efforts of 43 dispatch team members and 1.4k delivery drivers, and centralize distribution operations. During my tenure, I designed final / last mile KPI reporting, and staffing models that were aimed at improving distribution efficiency prior to the cancelation of centralization efforts. In this role, I led a 585-member team across the loading, warehouse, dispatch, and delivery teams and held responsibility for creating new key performance indicators to track fuel, vehicle lease, and labor costs, as well as average stops per route, cubic volume per route, and on-time delivery rate at a full-service party rental company. My claims to fame are reducing vehicle ease spending by $2.7M+, labor expenses by $432k, and fuel expenditures by $246.9k+. I also managed to lower headcount by 30%, representing 4.4k+ labor hours, in 2008 without experiencing any interruptions to 24/7 operations through the optimization of Dispatcher schedules across multiple shifts. To further enhance operational efficiency, I also instituted internal controls to for fuel cards, E-Z Passes, vehicle keys, mobile devices, and equipment to prevent employee abuse of company resources.
