Devoted has recognized the opportunity to engage with these providers in such a way as to complement their inherent core competencies with our unique data availability , member engagement and virtual/in home clinical services. These services complement those of overworked providers and are generally not available at scale to physicians. The provision of these services without desiring to “own” physicians has proved to be a remarkable addition to the care continuum and a new scalable paradigm. Show less

Regionalization was a new concept and was recruited to inaugurate my role and lay the groundwork for a network of physicians with hospitals throughout the enterprise in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) and Columbia Doctors (CD). Working together. Our teams established standardized methodologies for Clinical Service deployment of WCM and CD to our regional network. In addition we initiated numerous hospital programs regionally led by physicians from both schools. The New York Presbyterian Medical Groups (NYPMG) were created and co-branded with WCM and CD in their respective catchment areas as the third physician arm of NYP. The newly formed NYP Physician Services Organization, with a new practice management infrastructure provides practice management services to over 1000 NYPMG providers (850 physicians),including some WCM and CD physicians. It was a privilege to witness the establishment of a new enterprise within one of the nations top hospital systems. We were able to initiate advanced programs in Patient Engagement, Quality of Care and Digital Health - leveraging NYP resources as well as WCM and CD thought leaders. Enterprise wide service lines became possible in Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease as well as the deployment of other services from the academic medical centers to the regional system. The breadth and depth of the enterprise with its resources and talent lent itself to the rapid achievement of scale and excellence in multiple modalities. The further evolution of the enterprise will no doubt make an impact both nationally and beyond as it continues to define itself as both a national leader and regional enterprise. Show less

In 2014 there were approximately 2000 clinical providers including 1650 physicians and over 2000 staff. The organization accounted for more than half the business in the system. The physician network complemented by urgent care, corporate health, executive medicine and Integrative medicine formed the backbone of the University hospitals system as it competed for market share with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in North East Ohio. The constituent clinicians reflected the entire continuum of care as well as the elements of medical discovery, therapeutic innovation and education in the academic medical center. The impact of the regional organization extended nationally and internationally in clinical care and innovation. University Hospitals in 2013-2014 was listed in the Honor Roll by US News & World Report for 2013-2014.
