I used system exports and Excel to determine GAD reviews due and review drawdown application forms on receipt. I operated the team mailbox and answered all queries asked of the team. Following the budget changes I saw this role as an opportunity to broaden my SIPP experience, and also to utilise my mathematical skills. I processed Capped Drawdown, Flexi-Access crystallisations, UFPLS and GAD reviews. I also prepared annual valuation packs, illustrations and transfer schedules. I broadened my knowledge of drawdown and pension protection. While on the team I utilised my previous experience, writing a procedure for preparing transfer schedules. In this role I undertook all aspects of SIPP administration, and some aspects of SSAS administration, leading a team of three people. I held meetings with clients and liaised with our Director Kate Ragnauth, Directors of Charles Stanley and Financial Advisors. I significantly improved my interpersonal, communication and management skills. I organised my team so that we prioritised our work, were flexible to our client’s requirements and gave outstanding customer service.

I managed my members pensions from ‘start to finish’ including transfers, investments (including unlisted shares and property), drawdown (including phased drawdown), scheme pension and death. Furthermore I dealt with all general work types. Frequently this involved liaising with solicitors or banks. Occasionally I held one-to-one meetings with Independent Financial Advisors. On a daily basis I handled general queries and complaints as well as taking responsibility for my general administration duties. As a Customer Associate I worked on SIPP Investments, Claims, Pension Drawdown Servicing and Support Teams. As a member of the Investments Team I handled investment sales and purchases to guarantee work was completed within the standard turnaround periods as well as keeping control of my daily workload. As part of this team I carried out complex calculations in preparation for referral to the Technical Team. I was responsible for the premium payments batch ensuring that standing order and other regular payments were made. Whilst in a Claims Team I dealt with contributions and servicing of policies, assisting with transfers and drawdown. I assisted on the Corporate New Business, Actuarial Valuation Report (AVR), Maximum Funding and Deminimus Teams. I built a close working relationship with Actuaries carrying out complex calculations involved with Actuarial Valuation Reports and Maximum Funding Quotes. Towards the end I detailed Final Salary calculations and administration. I had the privilege to be part of the AVR Team that won a top management award. Additionally I gained various internal awards such as one for solving a major IT problem. During my time at Liverpool Victoria I undertook the role of trainer and frequently taught new starters, was involved in developing new ‘checking sheets’ and worked on procedure notes. I volunteered during a period of re-structuring to work on a Drawdown Servicing Team taking a large amount of queries and learning new procedures.
