      • Jan 2015 - Dec 2019

The Urban Strategy Playground (USP) research group develops digital planning tools for urban planning. On the basis of various analyses and simulations, the tools support planners in developing strategies, evaluating them and visually preparing them for political decision-making processes and public participation. The aim is to evaluate and compare possible planning measures on the basis of objective criteria. In this context, the focus of the research group is on the conception, implementation and evaluation of decision-support systems on an urban scale. In recent years, a number of tools have already been developed and prototypically implemented. Examples are the simulation and monitoring of building codes such as distance areas, automatic calculation of key figures for structural density and green space provision, simulation of shading, building energy and noise dispersion. To visualize the planning results, interfaces for the 3D printing of the city models, as well as web viewers and a connection to Augmented Reality devices were realized. • Oct 2016 - Oct 2019

The Digital Design Lab is a digital workshop operated by the Chair of Architectural Informatics to explore computer-generated forms in an architectural context. For experimenting with new model making techniques the faculty of architecture provides a large range of different machines for students and researcher. The Digital Design Lab offers a closed digital production chain, which helps in the architectural design process from the idea to a 1:1 prototype.Currently the staff consists of 10 Student Tutors and 2 Tutors are providing trainings, and support.Machines:• 1 Zuend Cutter• 4 Laser Cutters (available 24/7)• 1 4-Axis CNC Milling Machines• 2 3-Axis CNC Milling Machines
