Sep 1997 - Present
I began my career in September, 1997 at the Austin Police Academy. I graduated in March, 1998 and worked Patrol in Central West Area Command for 3 years. In 2001, the Austin Police Department created the Downtown Area Command, focusing on the Entertainment District in Downtown and West Campus. I worked as a Bicycle Patrol Officer from 2001 until 2010. During that time I became an International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) Certified Instructor. In 2002, I attended the Austin Police Department's West Point Leadership Academy put on by the University of Texas at Austin. I had the opportunity to work alongside a variety of ranks throughout the Austin Police Department as well as with Police Executives from surrounding police agencies throughout Central Texas. In September 2004 I left the Austin Police Department to join the FBI New Agents Training (Class 21/04). In December, 2004, I became a Special Agent with the FBI. I was assigned to the Washington Field Office, Washington, DC and worked in the Violent Crimes/Bank Robbery Unit. I very quickly determined that I preferred Austin, Texas to Washington, DC and left the FBI to rejoin the Austin Police Department, returning to my Bicycle Patrol shift in the Downtown Area Command in April, 2005. In 2010, I promoted to Detective and joined the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) working various Fraud-related investigations (Check Fraud, Credit Card Fraud, Identity Theft). In 2014, I joined the United States Secret Service Central Texas Financial Crimes Task Force (CTFCTF) as a Federally Deputized Task Force Officer (TFO), focusing on Fraud to include Federal Investigations into Bank Fraud, Wire Fraud and Money Laundering. I continue to serve as a Detective with the Austin Police Department, assigned as a TFO on the USSS CTFCTF. Show less
