As part of the IT staff in the IEC, my main responsibility is to ensure the smooth operation of our Network on a day-to-day basis. This includes managing:Mailwall for filtering emails, Trend micro, Symantec and Sophos Anti-virus, Veeam backups to Server, cloud and Tape, ACTWin lite access controls,Mitrefinch TMS Time Management System,VMware vSphere with Dell EMC,Office365 AdminI am the first point of contact for all User issues big or small. I also stand-in for the Head of IT as he is working offsite 50% of the time.I was IT Project Manager for upgrading our paper based system to the new paperless Q-Pulse system. I worked in conjunction with our QA Department to ensure the project was a success. This involved being part of the selection team, followed by installing and testing the system on the Network, then documenting the process for IT. I then worked with QA to provide easy-to-use guides for users as they were being trained on the system.

Previously I was part of both the Service Desk team and Managed Services team in Ergo. My time on the Service Desk was spent dealing with a wide range of User issues from the companies supported. While on the Managed Services team my time was spent on site with those companies, providing in-house support and Hardware/Software repair. This has included work nationwide and in Spain for a time. I was also a used as a resource to some of the other side projects with these companies. Support Desk: When working on the Support Desk I was part of the team that cover's Office 365 Administrator Mail Support for one of our major clients(11,000 Users). I also helped with Hardware/Software issues for Users within the company and was part of the team that is the gateway for all other clients' Helpdesk calls.Windows 7 deployment team: Another large client of was updating the operating systems on all of their machines countrywide. This was done through SCCM managed by IBM who we partnered with to ensure a smooth transition. I worked contingency on this team. The other project with Windows 7 involved travelling to Spain for a major client and upgrading PC's onsite in their various stores travelling from Central to Southern Spain.Managed Services: Some of our clients require in-house IT staff. I was required to travel to site and perform IT Support to staff within that company. As part of this team I ran Windows Updates through SCCM monthly for another client with 650 Servers and 3000 User machines.

My duties as Trainee Administrator include the following:IT Helpdesk(Spiceworks)- As part of the Helpdesk team I deal with a wide range of User issues such as Network connectivity, speed and Operating System testing, problem solving, installing software and allowing access to company applications held on the Servers.Active Directory Directory Services- My experience with AD DS has been creating User Profiles, amending permissions to individual Users and resetting passwords.Buildroom- While working in the Buildroom I am responsible for updating PCs and laptops to company standards which involves updating the firmware to current specifications, upgrading the Operating Systems, creating Administrator and User A/C's and service tags for each PC,joining them to the Domain, creating links to the company's Networked Applications for external Users and installing Citrix receiver then testing connectivity, installing applications such as MS Office, Chrome, SnagIt etc. and installing anti-virus protection(Symantec Endpoint Protection and McAfee)Thin Client Deployment-As part of the changeover from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2012 R2 the User PCs are being changed to the Igel Thin Client Solution. I am responsible for Configuring the Igels for deployment, this includes updating, renaming, grouping and testing through the UMS(Universal Management Suite). When it comes to deployment my duties include the removal of the old PCs and fitting+testing of the new Igels and monitors.Regionals-A large part of the INM Group is made up of regional newspapers spanning the length and breadth of the country. My role is to liaise with management and users, respond to and repair any I.T. issues that might be affecting a users ability to do their job. This can involve repair of a wide range of PC/Laptop and infrastructure snags.

In FAS Ballyfermot, for three years, I provided technical support and cover instruction when required for sick or annual leave. My training of apprentices in the tiling trade, both practical and academic aspects to FETAC Level 6, involved liaising with department heads and other trainers. I was also responsible for developing a training schedule for the course.During this time, I gained experience in training classes of different levels of experiences ages and backgrounds. I also completed a course with NUI Maynooth in this field.
