Internship at the Systems Chemistry department (FNWI) The topic of my internship: "Traditional and crystallization-driven self-assembly of biodegradable block copolymers". During this internship, I altered parameters (temperature, solvent concentrations, time duration, etc) to examine controlled self-assembly of specific structures. Normal structures of vesicles and micelles are spherical, but I was pursuing altering the shape towards more fiber-like structures, specifically with micelles. The method used was by "living" crystallization-driven self-assembly ("living" CDSA). Tasks performed in my internship: - Self-assembly by using PEG-PDLLA and Nile Red in different organic solvents to produce polymersomes - "living" crystallizatiion-driven self-assembly with PEG-PLLA to produce micelles - PLASMA (preparing the TEM grids) - Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) - Sonication and dialysis - Dynamic light scattering (DLS) End grade: 8.0

The topic of my internship: "Implications of glycosylation on antibody deposition in plasma cell disorders measured by glycomics". Specifically observing the N-glycosylation on cryoglobulins (IgM/IgG) in the three different types of cryoglobulinemia. The cryoglobulins were gathered from patient samples and divided in the soluble fraction and cryofraction to compare glycosylation patterns. Tasks performed in my internship: - aliquoting, enrichment and digestion of samples - help creating a pilot method for measuring cryoglobulin samples - measuring with LC-MS/MS - data processing (DataAnalysis (Bruker), MASCOT, SPYDER, Excel) - creating targetlists for both IgM and IgG with the observed N-glycans present on the different N-glycosylation sites End grade: 7.5

The topic of the study was on emotion regulation, specifically looking at elevated anxiety within the healthy population. Task description: Performing independently fMRI scans (certified user) whilst handeling the planning and data management of the study. Additionally, educating the new interns with the procedures of the experiment, fMRI and data management. Scanned approximately 150+ participants. The topic of my internship: "Stress coping in anxiety - Assessment of stress coping in healthy subjects with high anxiety traits ". During this internship, I performed research on the data acquired from multiple questionnaires. I specifically compared the anxiety scores with both the stress scores and the coping scores. Tasks performed at my internship: - Data analysis (Excel, SPSS) - Responsible for planning and performing the experiment with the participants. - Data management (SONA, SoScisurvey) - Producing scans with the fMRI End grade: 7,5
