At that time, patients received paper-based vouchers that they redeemed for a few dollars off fresh fruits and vegetables from our mobile market. It was my role to figure out how to make that sketch more scalable, while centering our values of dignity and autonomy and grounded by our mission of strengthening communities by getting healthy food to households that need it most. Now, Fresh Connect is a platform making it possible for healthcare organizations to cover the cost of healthy food for patients and analyze related health impacts. We built a Fresh Connect prepaid debit card and have more than 5000 Fresh Connect cardholders enrolled across 10+ states. Cardholders are able to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from over 10,000 retailers throughout the country, including big-box stores, independents, and farmers markets. I currently lead our product strategy, collaborating with mission-critical stakeholders and partners – from business development to cardholder support, payment processors to retailers, SaaS providers to engineers and designers – to build Fresh Connect.
